Charles III Coronation Bear by Merrythought

On Saturday 6th May 2023, King Charles III was crowned at Westminster Abbey alongside Queen Camilla in a ceremony full of tradition and pageantry.

To commemorate this momentous occasion in British royal history, Merrythought – Britain’s oldest surviving teddy bear manufacturer have created a unique collectable bear in his honour.

The talented designers have studied King Charles III’s coronation outfit and created this magnificent limited-edition treasure. Admire the luxurious velvet Robe of Estate embellished with golden embroidery and first worn by King Charles III’s grandfather at his coronation in 1937. Beneath his robe is a purple tunic with a golden trim inspired by the design of similar tunics worn by George V and George VI.

His fur is made from the finest golden mohair. His paws are crafted from soft, brown velvet – one embroidered in golden thread with the King’s royal cypher and the other, with Merrythought’s iconic wishbone label carrying the proud boast "Hand-made in England”. He’s been designed with flat soles to his feet so he can stand easily and is also fully jointed so you can change his pose…from a regal wave to a warm, friendly embrace.

As befits a bear of such historic importance, the Charles III Coronation Bear by Merrythought will be issued in a strict limited edition. Not only is he available exclusively from Danbury Mint, but just 2,023 bears can ever be made. This is a very small edition for such a landmark event in royal history. Each bear will be issued with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
