Johnny, the Evacuee Bear by Merrythought

The Second World War saw many tearful goodbyes as millions of British city children were evacuated to the countryside. To mark this extraordinary moment in our nation’s history, Merrythought created a very special bear. Made from soft golden-coloured mohair, specially ‘aged’ to give him an authentic look and based on an original pre-war design, Johnny beautifully captures the spirit of the little evacuees. Standing nervously and dressed in his best clothes – his school uniform – Johnny has his name tag attached, and over his shoulder is his gas mask box. A strict limited edition – only 1,939 pieces can ever be made.
