Shan Shan the Panda

The birth of a Giant Panda is a great occasion. So when Shin Shin and Ri Ri gave birth to a little baby Panda, the world gasped a collective ‘awww!’ Shan Shan was immediately thrown into the limelight. Over 300,000 people entered a competition to name her. On her first birthday, 16,000 people came just to visit her at Ueno Zoo in Japan to celebrate, bringing gifts and cards galore.
