We’ve had the good fortune to discover a small hoard of genuine 50% silver coin issues minted the same year as the great triumph in our skies, the Battle of Britain. In order to honour all those who stood firm against the Nazis in this crucial period of the war, we have used this timely discovery to put together a type set of all the 1940 silver issues and present them in a bespoke wooden presentation.
You will find all six British silver issues from 1940 presented in the deluxe wooden presentation. Our bespoke display features the collection title and thrilling artwork depicting the Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire, the aircraft that featured so prominently in the decisive victory over the Luftwaffe.
The six wartime coins featured in this collection are some of the last silver coins ever minted. Together they contain over a half ounce of pure silver!Coins minted during conflict always carry special significance for collectors, particularly those from key years. You can get no more significant a year than 1940, when the RAF achieved a much needed victory over their German adversaries.
