The momentous events of 1916-1921 heralded a new era for Ireland - and for Irish coinage. Following the creation of the Irish Free State, the Coinage Act of 1926 was issued, empowering a newly independent Ireland to once again create its own coinage. In all, eight denominations were produced, farthing to half crown. They were first issued in December, 1928. But these new coins were only in use for five decades, because in 1971, Ireland, like Britain, converted to a decimal currency.
Now, Danbury Mint is offering you the opportunity to collect an example of each of the eight pre-decimal coins from every one of the five decades in which they were minted! Presenting…. Five Decades of Irish Coins. This magnificent collection brings together an example of each of the Irish pre-decimal coins from every decade in which they were minted!
To give these historic coins the presentation they deserve, a custom-crafted display chest is included completely free of charge. With a lock and key for additional security, it’s the perfect way to protect and showcase these impressive coins.
Your first delivery will contain two coins. Thereafter, you will receive four coins every other month.
