King Charles III – Born to Rule

With Queen Elizabeth II’s reign lasting over 70 years, many in Britain had never seen the crowning of a new monarch. But on 6th May 2023, in an extravagant ceremony full of pageantry and spectacle, Charles III was crowned King. Now, Danbury Mint is proud to present a magnificent collection of coins to honour the start of King Charles III’s reign.

This remarkable collection combines a complete set of 1948 coins with a complete set of brand new 2023 coins. The former is the year of His Majesty’s birth, and the latter is the year of his Coronation and the first full year that his portrait appears on coins.

The 1948 set includes every coin from that year and each one features the classic portrait of Charles’ grandfather, George VI, on the obverse. The set includes the farthing, threepence, sixpence, halfpenny, penny, both English and Scottish shillings, florin, and half-crown.

The 2023 set features every denomination released for circulation by the Royal Mint, from the simple penny to the bi-metallic £2 coin. The coins feature brand new designs on the reverses, making this collection even more exceptional. To complete this date set you’ll also receive the £5 Coronation Crown, which features a stunning design of the Coronation Regalia on the reverse and the special one-off crowned portrait of the King on the obverse.
