Introduced in 1849, the silver florin, worth two shillings, was the first step to decimalisation, a trend that had taken root elsewhere in Europe. Over time, and with many changes to its design, the florin became an integral part of British coinage. To commemorate this momentous period in Britain’s history, Danbury Mint has brought together this magnificent collection of genuine Victorian silver florins. Introducing… The Florins of the 19th Century collection.

This collection brings together the five types of florins issued during the 1800s, each containing 92.5% silver! Included are some fascinating specimens. The Double Florin is one of the shortest-lived coin denominations in British history, while the ‘Godless’ florin is the only florin to omit “Dei Gratia” from the coin’s inscription, which caused huge controversy at the time.

There’s also the ‘Gothic’ florin with an intricate range of gothic revival details found in its design.

With this collection, you will receive a unique, specially-designed display, perfect for showcasing this magnificent collection. What’s more, it’s yours at no extra charge. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Authenticity, verifying the contents of your collection.
