And now, to celebrate the legacy of Henry VIII’s reign, Danbury Mint are proud to preset… The Henry VIII Great Seal of the Realm, a stunning 1oz silver replica of the infamous monarch’s royal seal from the Royal Mint.
This remastered edition from the Royal Mint was inspired by Henry VIII’s great golden seal, or ‘bulla’, that was specially created to authorise the Treaty of Amiens (1527) between the king and his fierce rival Francis I, King of France. It features the king seated on a Renaissance throne, marking a shift from the medieval style of his earlier seals, it is believed to have influenced the design of his final seal, reflecting the evolution of his reign.
In a fitting tribute to such an incredible work of art, the seal is minted in 99.9% silver and has been struck to proof quality – the highest calibre of strike in the coin-collecting world. Using special polished dies, the coin has been individually struck at least twice to give it an unparalleled crispness of design. It has more detail, clearer relief, and a finer, smoother surface than coins struck to normal standards.
