To commemorate the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and celebrate her remarkable 70-year reign, we have assembled a collection that celebrates a life that was devoted to our nation. It includes coins from the year of her birth, the year of her Coronation, the last coins of the pre-decimal era, the first coins of the decimal era and coins from 2022, the last year that coins were struck with her portrait. Presenting… The Queen’s Life in Coins, a remarkable collection that you will treasure for a lifetime.
Highlights in this collection including a set of 1926 coins struck in the year of the Queen’s birth and are now nearly a century old! The half-crown, florin, shilling, sixpence and threepence are all minted in 50% silver. You will also receive coins from 1953, the first year of her reign and the first coins to feature Mary Gillick’s definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth. 1953 is the only year that the “BRITT:OMN” (Queen of the Britons) legend appears on the Queen’s coinage. It was removed the following year.
The collection also includes the last years of pre-decimal issues and the first years of decimal currency, a momentous time for our nation’s coinage. The 2022 coins are a poignant landmark as this is the last year of issue with Her Majesty’s portrait. You’ll also receive the Queen Elizabeth Memorial Crown, now no longer on sale at the Royal Mint, which is the first Crown to feature the portrait of King Charles III.
You will also receive a specially designed wooden display chest to house the collection, yours at no additional charge. Featuring a glass-top and a banked interior, it’s the perfect place to store and organise your collection.
Display is 19¼" (49cm) long x 3" (8cm) high x 10½" (27cm) deep.
