These two beautiful silver groats are important historic relics. They date from the reigns of Henry VI and Edward IV, well over 500 years ago. Henry VI was the last of the Lancastrian kings; his reign was dominated by the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars for the throne of England between two competing families: the House of Lancaster and the House of York.. He was famously defeated at the Battle of Tewkesbury in May 1471 and replaced by Edward IV, the first king of the House of York. Just imagine – these coins may have been held by those who witnessed the two kings clashing at Tewkesbury, or even by the soldiers who fought for them!
Both of your silver groats will be presented in durable, crystal-clear cases for easy viewing of both front and back. For ideal display, your coins will be mounted on a richly-finished wooden panel, which can lie flat or be set at an angle in the handsome display chest provided. The chest features gleaming golden-tone fixtures and a lock and key, and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. What’s more, this display chest is offered at no additional charge.
