Prince Charles was destined for the throne from the day he was born. When Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral on 8th September 2022, the throne passed immediately, and without ceremony, to her eldest son, the former Prince of Wales.
To commemorate such a momentous moment in history, Steiff have crafted a beautiful collector bear to honour the new King. He’s hand-made from the finest ivory-coloured mohair – one of the most beautiful and sustainable natural fibres in the world - with contrasting velvet paw pads, black boot-button eyes and a delicate hand-stitched nose and mouth. On his right paw pad, in regal burgundy thread which perfectly complements his luxurious velvet ribbon, you’ll see the King’s new cypher “CIIIR”.
The crowning glory for this very special bear is the 22ct gold-plated medallion around his neck. It shows a portrait of Charles III in profile bordered by a pattern inspired by the design of the stone-setting on the Imperial State Crown. The reverse states the date of his coronation – 6th May 2023.
Available exclusively from Danbury Mint, the God Save The King bear carries the sought-after white label, with red writing, reserved especially for Steiff limited editions. Only 10,000 of these precious bears can ever be made – ensuring this bear’s permanent rarity as a collector’s piece and adding to his desirability. Each bear is individually numbered and issued with a Certificate of Authenticity from Steiff.
Actual size of bear is 12" (30cm) standing.
As of May 2022, Steiff is a “climate-neutral” company. All their mohair bears are made from RMS mohair. The Responsible Mohair Standard (similar to the Responsible Wool Mark) addresses the welfare of the goats and the land they graze on. It also ensures a strong chain of custody for certified materials as they move through the supplier chain. The bears are stuffed with either PES siliconized polyester fibres made from recycled PET plastic bottles or 100% plant-based corn fibres which are fully biodegradable.
