Pennywise - The Steiff 50th Anniversary of Decimal Day Bear
-
In Stock
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Britain’s momentous Decimal Day in 1971, Steiff have created Pennywise, a handsome limited-edition, mohair collector bear exclusively available from Danbury Mint.
Pennywise is hand-made from soft golden-brown mohair and a charming and contrasting cream muzzle, finished off with hand-stitched features. Gentle airbrushing around his black boot button eyes gives this little bear a wonderfully studious expression.
His fabulous waistcoat is decorated with images of the six new decimal coins designed in secret for the Royal Mint by sculptor Christopher Ironside. Look closer and you will discover, concealed in his pockets, two coins – one of the very last pre-decimal pennies minted in 1967 and one of the first “new” decimal pennies minted in 1971.
Pennywise is being made in a small limited edition. Only 1,971 bears can ever be made.
Actual size of bear is 11" (28cm) standing.
